Stewardship -
  • Read about an update on the project on Traverse Mountain and in Lambert Park by the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources to replace invasive grasses to better feed wildlife and to aid in inhibiting the spreading of fires. Find it on the Stewardship Projects page of Open Spaces.

Who Knew? -

Who Knew? -
  • Lambert park is 255 acres of open space in Alpine, Utah. In addition to scrub oak, juniper, willow, chokecherry and wild cherry trees the park also has a few fir trees--five to be exact!. ​Find out more about them on the White Fir Trees page in Who Knew?.

Who Knew? -
  • Not only is the natural yeast in juniper berries used for making gin, but it can also make a great sourdough starter! Alpine Mayor Sheldon Wimmer shares a tried and true family recipe with us. ​Find it on the Juniper Differences page in Who Knew?.

  • We've added three new birds, the scrub jay, the black capped chickadee and the red-tailed hawk. See how picture perfect they are on the Birds page of Wildlife.
Insects -
  • In addition to tarantulas, we have added a new spider found in Alpine: Sergioulus Montanus. Come see the new photo on the Insects page of the Wildlife section.
Open Spaces -
  • Alpine offers spectacular views in all directions. But did you ever wonder what peaks, canyons and valleys you were looking at? Check out the new panoramas of the East and North Mountain areas on the new Alpine Mountains page of Open Spaces.

  • The good work of nature can always use a helping hand. There are many people in Alpine who do not want a spotlight on them, but help us understand and preserve our natural surroundings. Come to our new People page in the Who Knew? section to read some of their stories.

  • Come see a new discovery located up near the end of the Spring Trail in Lambert Park - a new photo of Rocky Mountain Hemlock Parsley has been added to the White Flowers section of Plants.

Trees, Bushes and Brush -
  • As seasons change, so do our plants - the Elderberry Trees in Lambert Park are no exception. See how they have changed in the Trees, Bushes and Brush section of Plants.

Events -
  • Did you know that the Monte L. Bean Life Science Museum at BYU has different programs and events throughout the year? Check out some of the upcoming activities in the Events section.

Who Knew? -
  • On the East Mountain side of Alpine there is a row of large boulders that stories have that teenagers used to run up to on Easter morning. Come see some new photos of them and submit an entry to name them in the East Mountain Boulders page of Who Knew?.

  • We have added a great new section to the site, Who Knew?. Who knew Alpine had an arboretum? Who knew an Alpine resident has built his own aviary? Check back to this page to find new and interesting stories and pictures of Alpine places, people and history. The first two entries are for the Elder Aviary and the Petersen Arboretum. Check them out!

Uses -
  • This may be a first for Lambert Park, but as it turns out it is also the perfect place to unicycle! Check it out on the Uses page in the Open Spaces section!

Flowers -
  • We've added ​​Hooker's Evening Primrose, White Sweet Clover and Common Burdock to the Flowers section pages, Yellow Flowers, White Flowers and Purple Flowers, respectively.

General -
  • The Alpine City Council has voted to ban all motorized vehicles in Lambert Park. Exceptions are the paved roads to the Rodeo Grounds and the Bowery. The ban is effective immediately, will last until 1 January 2018 and will be enforced by the Lone Peak Police Department. There is a $500 fine for violations. Click here for allowed parking areas and other information.

Stewardship -
  • New Fire page with pictures of Lambert Park after the blaze July 15-17, 2017. They can be viewed in a separate page of the Stewardship section of Open Spaces.

​Trail Maps
 - 
  • A new, updated of the Lambert Park Trail System is now available! Jump on over to Trail Maps section of Open Spaces to view and download this new map.

Events -
  • Due to the 400-500 acre Water Tower fire that occurred over the weekend, the Alpine City Council is having a special session to discuss Lambert Park uses and access. It will start at 6pm at the Alpine City Hall.

  • Wow! We've added a new page! Now you can check out what is in bloom in Lambert Park and surrounding areas of Alpine!  Go and check out the new What's in Bloom section!

Wildlife -​
  • In the Insects section of Wildlife, come see the new photo of the Mystery Rust-Colored Beetle.
  • There is a new photo of Great Basin Gopher Snake in the Reptiles section of Wildlife.
Plants -
  • Again, lots more new Yellow Flowers to be found in the Plants section - hop to this section to see the new photos of Showy Goldeneye, Spiny Sowthhisle, Prickly Lettuce and Goldenrod.

  • Fly on over to the Birds section of Wildlife and find the great new photos of the Kingfisher and a Female Mallard and her new chicks.
  • Check out the new division of insects in the Insects section of Wildlife. 
  • And while you are in the Insects section of Wildlife, mosey on over to the new photos of the Tri-Colored Bumble Bee and the Common Blue Damselfly.

  • Even more flowers found! Go to the Purple Flowers section of Plants to find the new photos of Rush Skeletonplant and Alfalfa .
  • Lots more Yellow Flowers to be found in the Plants section - click on over to see the new photos of Hair Golden Aster, the Common Sunflower, Prairie Coneflower and Curly-Top Gumweed!
  • Last but not least check out the photo of Chicory in the Blue Flowers section of Plants.

Wildlife -
  • Check out the new photo of the Pale Tiger Swallowtail Butterfly in the Insects section of Wildlife. 
​Plants - 
  • More flowers found! Look for the photo of the Firewheel  in the Red Flowers section of Plants.
  • And while you're in the Plants, go to the Yellow Flowers section and find the photo of the Common Mullein! 
  • There are some new flowers either in bloom or changing. Find some new photos of  Penstemon Palmeri, Showy Milkweed and Spreading Dogbane (don't let your dog eat any of this!) in the Pink Flowers section of Plants.
  • Go to the Invasive Species section of Plants to find the new entry on Musk Thistle (which can also be found under ​Purple Flowers). Don't confuse this with the native Utah Thistle.

Wildlife -
  • Look for the new photo of the Western Tiger Swallowtail Butterfly in the Insects section of Wildlife. And while you are there check out some new labels associated with the photos.
Plants - 
  • Flowers, flowers and more flowers! For a hike outside the Lambert Park, try a walk up Box Elder Canyon. You can reach it from the end of Box Elder Drive, as well as from the top of Spring trail. You will be rewarded with two fabulous flowers, the Firecracker Penstemon and the Yellow Monkeyflower! Check out their new photos in the Red Flowers and Yellow Flowers sections of Plants.
Open Spaces -
  • There is always so much to do in our open spaces! Check out some new photos of things to do (Camping and Plant Watching) in the Uses section of Open Spaces.
