Judy Bush - Co-founder and prime contributor to the Alpine Nature Center website -
Judy Bush passed away on 20 February 2020 after a courageous 3.5 year battle with leukemia. In the summer of 2016, Judy with her husband, Ed, moved to Alpine, Utah, to enjoy their retirement years. Judy was extremely impressed by the beauty of the city of Alpine and wanted to do something that would help the city residents understand and appreciate the wonders of nature that surrounded them. To aid in satisfying this desire, Judy co-founded and co-developed the Alpine Nature Center website. Unfortunately, shortly after moving to Alpine and establishing the website, Judy was diagnosed with leukemia.

To aid in satisfying this desire, Judy co-founded and co-developed the Alpine Nature Center website. Unfortunately, shortly after moving to Alpine and establishing the website, Judy was diagnosed with leukemia.
Although she was being treated and hospitalized during the following 3 years, Judy became the prime information provider and content developer for the Alpine Nature Center website. Judy loved Lambert Park and each morning, weather and health permitting, she would would embark on a 3-4 mile hike, camera in hand, ready to document features of the park. Through tireless research, she was able to document and catalog over 120 different flowers, trees and bushes and she shared her daily discoveries each year in the What's in Bloom section of the website. Here one can find what is blooming and understand some of the history and uses of the flowers, berries, brushes and trees of the park. Judy was always enthusiastic about sharing her fascination with nature with others, organizing countless "Lady Day Hikes", an "Alpine Water Tour", the contest to name the boulders overlooking Alpine,a contest to guess how many miles of trails Lambert Park has, and a developing a series of six hikes through the early spring, summer and early fall, documenting what flowers could be found on each of the hikes (with souvenir buttons that could be won when the hikes were first published).
Judy also contributed content that highlighted some of Alpines many features (the aviary, the arboretum, the panoramic views from the Alpine Cemetery), interesting articles on the natural world around Alpine (e.g., sunflowers, hawks, brushes, tarantulas, junipers, robins, woodpeckers, doves, penumbra, trails, acorns, glaciers, box elder trees, deer, mountain mahogany trees, fir trees) and stories on the people that make Alpine unique. All of these wonders of Alpine can be found in the Who Knew? section of the website.
Judy's energy, enthusiasm, and her never ending quest for knowledge has touched and uplifted many in Alpine and will be sorely missed. Her impact in just 3 years has been tremendous.

Remembering Judy -
Please join me (Ed Bush, Judy's husband) in petitioning the Alpine City Council to dedicate the name of a trail (or portion of a trail) in her honor and memory. I hope to bring to them an overwhelming support for this idea. To do so please click the "Yes" button and then the "Submit" button below.
Update (1 April 2021) - Alpine City and the Alpine Trails Committee is planning a new Walking/Hiking/Running only trail through Lambert Park and is planning to name the trail in honor of Judy. Thank you for all who gave their support for this remebrance!
